Advancements in assisted reproductive technology (ART) continue at a fair pace—and that’s a good thing. Any tool that can help improve the probability of pregnancy is a valuable addition to the fertility treatment arsenal—so, in a sense, the more the better.
A principal class of techniques that make up that arsenal is sperm sorting, which has proved very useful in helping to ensure only the best sperm available are used in fertilisation, so that the birth defects sometimes connected with the use of inferior sperm are avoided.
A comparatively recent addition to that group is the FERTILE® chip, which sorts sperm by means of a science called microfluidics—roughly, the study of the behaviour of fluids when confined to a minuscule volume. In the basic procedure, a semen sample is introduced into a small cavity within the chip—the ‘micro-channel’—where the telling behaviour of sperm within that tiny space is used to identify the most physiologically and genetically sound of the lot.
The FERTILE® chip avoids the potentially damaging practices associated with some other forms of sperm sorting, has no negative impact upon embryo culture, and reduces the chances of contaminating the semen sample. It also speeds the sorting process, taking only about half an hour to complete. It is a tool our partner clinic, Gynem, has proudly added to their kit.
To learn more about the FERTILE® chip and what it can do for you, get in touch with us. And, if you’re really interested, here’s more on the complex science of microfluidics. Have fun.

‘We had no [prior] experience with Gynem, but, due to my business relations with some Czech companies, I already knew that the Czech Republic is a very developed country, and Czech people are a very serious and trustable people.
Our first visit to Gynem went very smoothly. We were picked up from the airport by a car sent by Gynem. Zita welcomed us and arranged our visit with the doctors. Meanwhile, our tests and scan were done, and we had the result in just an hour. Our impression was very positive—a modern, well-equipped clinic with professional doctors and staff.
During our treatment period in our home country, Zita was always very helpful. She responded to all our telephone calls and emails on time. She sent us all the necessary medications, whenever we needed them, within a couple of days.
Our second visit to Gynem went as well as our first. The embryo transfer was made without any complications. As a result, we are now 5 weeks pregnant.
We sincerely recommend Gynem to all couples’
