Intracytoplasmic Morphologically Selected Sperm Injection (IMSI)
Intracytoplasmic Morphologically Selected Sperm Injection (IMSI)
Through high-power microscope, the IMSI procedure reveals sperm in great detail, illuminating structures in the head of the sperm called vacuoles that would otherwise remain unseen. Sperm with large vacuoles tend to lead to lower fertility rates, poorer embryonic development, and increased chances of miscarriage. IMSI enables embryologists to better avoid these issues by rejecting those sperm with more pronounced vacuoles.
